This type of settlement is very common in the North West Province of Cameroon. The settled tribes whose principal occupation is farming are usually found in the valleys while nomadic herdsmen occupy the hilltops. Population increase and undefined boundaries are major causes of conflicts between the herdsmen and the farmers.
