These heavy metalic rings were used as currency in some parts of Cameroon in the past. The bride price for my mother who is over 80 this 2005 was paid with this currency. Her bride price was 400 rings! I was reliably informed that this currency was 'manufactured' in Ogoja in Nigeria. Do not ask me how the money was regulated.
